Role: Cub Scout Leader

Organization: Scouts Canada

Every Tuesday evening, I get the opportunity as the Leader of Toronto's 403rd Cub Scouting Group to teach co-ed youth (aged 8 - 10 years old) basic outdoor skills and general life lessons. I successfully completed the compulsory Scouts training and have been volunteering for a year now. I am excited to begin my second year with a renewed focus and new ideas for training and outdoor activities.

I joined Scouts Canada to become more engaged in the community. Being involved is important to me and when this chance was presented, I saw it as a relevant and rewarding means to demonstrate my enthusiasm and energy.

Planning and participating requires a significant amount of my time, however, I get back so much in return. The 403rd Cub Scouting Group gives me the chance to be active and participate in leadership activities, camping excursions, tours and much more. Additionally, I get to unwind from a busy work day by focusing on delivering rewarding experiences for the kids. It's an excellent way for me to realize a work-life balance.

I highly recommend this activity to anyone that is interested. It is a well structured program and provides a great outlet to contribute as well as an opportunity to develop leadership skills. Scouts Canada offers seven unique programs for boys, girls and youth in nearly 3,600 individual groups across the country.

Kunal is now in his second year volunteering for Scouts Canada.
